  • Dogs not allowed on Harwich Beaches in the summer, from Labor Day to Memorial Day
  • Dogs are allowed on beaches in Harwich off-season, from the day after Labor Day through the day before Memorial Day
  • Dogs are allowed to walk in the parking lot of Red River Beach before 7:30am to 9am and after 4:30 PM during the summer

How to get a beach sticker in Harwich, Mass.

Beach parking stickers are required to park during the summer at all Harwich beaches from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm from July 1st – September 1st.

Are there any off-leash dog beaches in Harwich, MA?

Dogs are not allowed off-leash on beaches in Harwich, even in the offseason. If you want an off-leash dog beach during the summer, you’ll need to visit Provincetown. The beach on Commercial Street allows dogs to run free off leash in the mornings and evenings all year long.

Are dogs allowed on Harwich beaches in the summertime?

No. Dogs are only allowed on Harwich beaches in the offseason, they’re prohibited from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

What is the nearest beach where dogs are allowed in the summertime?

You can buy daily passes at Red River Beach, Earle Road Beach, Pleasant Street Beach, and at Wixon’s Landing on Long Pond. All other beaches require a seasonal parking sticker. 

Red River Beach has a long parking lot that tends to fill up later than the other ocean beaches do during the summer.

Harwich’s ocean beaches are on the south side of Cape Cod, facing Nantucket Sound.

The water is a bit warmer and the surf conditions are milder than you’ll find at outer cape beaches facing the open Atlantic Ocean. 

Pleasant bay beach is located at Jackknife Harbor on Pleasant Bay and is even more protected. The shallow water and lack of waves perfect for families with small children. The sand here isn’t as nice as at some of the Sound-side beaches, lots of broken shells and shall rocks
