About the Town of Truro, MA
Truro is one of the least developed areas on Cape Cod, and is a great place to experience the natural beauty of “olde cape cod.”
Truro is home to Highland Light (aka Cape Cod Light), the first and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod. First built in 1797; the current lighthouse was built in 1857. The entire 430-ton light was moved about 1⁄10 of a mile inland in 1996 to avoid the eroding cliffs. Tours are available to climb to the top, but dogs are not allowed.
Truro offers several nice camping options, and is a quick shuttle ride away from provincetown.
